Tahlequah Public Schools
No Child Left Behind Act
Annual Report Card
2005-2006
This is a brief
explanation of the Tahlequah Public School District
and Site 2005-2006 Annual Report Cards. The No
Child Left Behind legislation requires that
districts notify parents annually of the components
included in the Annual Report Card. The data in
these reports reflect student academic performance
during the 2005-2006 school year.
The performance
benchmarks were met in reading and math in 2005-2006
for every subgroup except for IEP students. In
addition, Hispanic students in the district narrowly
fell short of the math benchmark. Because of these
two subgroups not meeting the required targets,
Tahlequah Public Schools did not make Adequate
Yearly Progress or AYP for the 2005-2006 school
year.
Adequate Yearly
Progress or AYP requires that ALL students meet ALL
of the performance targets and is an all or nothing
designation. Below is a summary of district/ school
sites and their AYP status:

At Central
Elementary, IEP students did not meet the target in
math. Tahlequah Junior High School did not meet the
attendance rate target.
Every site has
analyzed data and determined the skill level of
students in an effort to assist students in meeting
the performance benchmarks required by the state.
Some interventions
that have been implemented or enhanced to remedy not
making AYP include administering a modified
assessment to a small percentage of IEP students
(did not have this option in 2005-2006), an
attendance incentive program at every site,
after/before school tutoring, during school
intervention/enrichment, closely aligned curriculum,
and careful monitoring of student progress
throughout the school year.
